MiniMax H3 specs — every limit,
and the day it last changed
Seventeen numbers, and none of them typed into this page. Each one is read out of the constant the generator enforces, so a limit that moves in the product moves here in the same deploy. The Changed column is the commit where that value last differed from the value before it — which is why most of these say August, and none of them says today.
What comes back
The shape of the clip. These are the options the generator offers and the ones the API accepts — anything outside them is refused before a credit is spent.
- Output resolution
- 768P · 2K768P is the default and what the free clip renders at. 2K is the ceiling; there is no 4K on this model.
- Aspect ratio
- 21:9 · 16:9 · 4:3 · 1:1 · 3:4 · 9:1621:9 carries no surcharge. It used to — the upstream bills per output second and ignores the shape, so the band was removed rather than kept as a markup with no cost behind it.
- Clip length
- 4–15sWhole seconds, and fifteen is a hard ceiling rather than a segment of something longer. What you get back lands on a 17n+5 frame grid, so most lengths run a fraction over. 192 frames is the only whole second.
- Clips per run
- 1 · 2 · 4Paid accounts only. A free clip is one clip.
What it costs
One credit is one cent of MiniMax's list price, which makes the whole group checkable against a page we do not control: look up the official rate and multiply by 100. The full price table is on pricing.
- 768P, per output second
- 8 credits / second$0.08 at MiniMax's list price, in cents.
- 2K, per output second
- 13 credits / second1.625× the 768P rate, because that is the ratio the upstream charges. It is not 2× — a table that rounded it there would be overcharging for 768P, which is the tier the free clip and the generator both default to.
- Base fee, per clip
- 5 credits / clipCharged once per clip for H3-Context-IR, which the upstream bills per call rather than per output second. Folded into the per-second rate it would overcharge a 15-second clip to undercharge a 4-second one.
- Upgrading a finished 768P clip to 2K
- 5 credits / secondPer second of regenerated output. Drafting at 768P and upgrading the keeper costs exactly what rendering every take at 2K would, and every take you throw away costs less.
- Reference images
- 5 included, then 4 credits eachSixth image onward is charged. What reference-to-video actually holds constant.
What you can send it
Checked in the browser before the request leaves and again on the server. A file that fails here costs nothing — the refusal happens before anything is generated.
- Image formats
- .jpg · .jpeg · .png · .webp · .heic · .heifHEIC and HEIF go up exactly as they came off the phone — the browser cannot decode them for a preview, so the server converts and re-runs every check below.
- Per image file
- 30.0 MB
- Per request
- 64.0 MBA start frame, an end frame and the prompt share this one.
- Image dimensions
- 256–5,760 pxShortest side and longest side. Almost anything shot on a phone already clears both.
- Image aspect range
- 2:5 – 5:2Width over height, inclusive — held as 0.4 and 2.5 in the validator.
What a free account gets
Three separate numbers that are often quoted as one. Everything the free tier does and does not cover.
- Free clips
- 1 per accountGranted once, on a verified account, and it does not expire. Seven daily check-ins pay for one more of the same size.
- The free clip's shape
- 4s · 768P · 16:9The real model, with dialogue, effects and music generated in the same pass, and no watermark.
- Free clips per network
- 3 per networkLifetime, per address. It caps the giveaway rather than registrations — a household, a shared office and a campus all arrive as one address, and a visitor who cannot register leaves nothing behind.
Changed= the commit where this value last differed. Not when the page was edited.
Three things this sheet deliberately does not date. Frame rate is not a setting — H3 returns 24 fps and neither the site nor the API offers another, so there is no value here that could move. Audio comes back at 32 kHz stereo for the same reason. And the frame grid, 17n+5, is the model's arithmetic rather than ours. A `Changed` column beside any of the three would be a date about a decision nobody made.
